1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Perself (“Perself”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when you access or use our website, tests, reports, account features, subscription services, and related services.

For privacy questions, you can contact us at [email protected] or [email protected].

Before launch, the legal business name, registered address, and company registration details should be added here if Perself is operated through a registered company or sole trader structure.

2. What this Privacy Policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed through Perself, including information provided when you take a test, create an account, unlock a report, subscribe, contact us, or use our website.

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, references to “personal information” should be understood as references to “personal data” under applicable data protection law.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, platforms, or services that may be linked from Perself. Those third parties have their own privacy practices.

3. Information we collect

We may collect account information such as your name, email address, password or login credentials, account status, subscription status, and communication preferences.

We may collect test and report information, including your answers, scores, report type, generated insights, completed tests, and related dashboard activity.

We may collect payment and transaction information, such as payment status, subscription plan, billing country, currency, transaction identifiers, and invoice-related information. Full card details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored by Perself.

We may collect technical and usage information, such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, approximate location derived from IP or request headers, pages viewed, referral source, and interactions with the website.

We may collect communication information when you contact us, including your message, email address, support request, and any information you choose to provide.

4. Test answers and sensitive information

Perself tests are designed for educational, informational, and self-reflection purposes only. They are not medical, psychological, psychiatric, legal, financial, or professional diagnostic tools.

Some tests may ask questions about feelings, behavior, attention, mood, relationships, personality patterns, or self-perception. Depending on the test and your answers, this information may feel personal or sensitive. We treat test answers and reports as confidential service data.

We do not use your individual test answers or reports for unrelated advertising, resale, or decisions about employment, insurance, credit, healthcare, or other legally significant matters.

You should not include unnecessary sensitive information in free-text fields, support messages, or contact forms. If you provide information that is not needed to provide the service, we may delete it where appropriate.

5. How we use your information

We use personal information to provide Perself, process test answers, generate reports, create and manage accounts, provide dashboard access, process payments and subscriptions, send service emails, provide support, prevent abuse, maintain security, improve our service, and comply with legal obligations.

We may use your email address to send account, billing, payment, subscription, access, security, and service-related messages.

Where permitted by law and your consent settings, we may use limited information for analytics, performance measurement, advertising measurement, and marketing communications.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand how Perself is used and improve the platform.

6. Legal bases for processing

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal data based on one or more legal bases.

We process information where necessary to perform a contract with you, such as creating your account, generating your report, providing subscription access, and managing payments.

We process information where necessary for our legitimate interests, such as securing the service, preventing fraud, improving Perself, responding to support requests, and understanding service performance.

We process information where required to comply with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, consumer protection, payment, and regulatory requirements.

Where required, we rely on your consent, for example for certain cookies, analytics, marketing communications, or optional processing.

7. Automated reports and profiling

Perself may use scoring logic and automated processing to generate test results, report categories, insights, and dashboard content based on your answers.

These results are provided only for educational and self-reflection purposes. They do not produce legal effects or similarly significant effects, and they should not be treated as diagnosis, professional evaluation, or final truth.

We do not use your test results to make decisions about your eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, healthcare, or other essential services.

8. When we share information

We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate Perself, including hosting providers, database providers, analytics providers, email delivery providers, payment processors, customer support tools, security tools, and technical infrastructure providers.

We may share information with Stripe or other payment providers for payment processing, subscription management, fraud prevention, billing, and transaction records.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, legal process, government request, tax obligation, or to protect our rights, users, service, safety, or security.

If Perself is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, sale of assets, or business transfer, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell your personal information.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

We may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, keep sessions secure, measure performance, understand usage, and support advertising or conversion measurement where permitted.

Essential cookies are used to provide core website and account functionality. These may be active without optional consent where legally permitted.

Analytics and marketing cookies are used only where permitted by applicable law and consent settings. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where available, through our cookie preferences tool.

We may use privacy-conscious analytics tools, advertising measurement tools, and conversion tracking tools to understand how visitors interact with Perself and improve the service.

10. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, depending on the location of our service providers and technical infrastructure.

Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as data processing agreements, Standard Contractual Clauses, or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

11. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the service, maintaining accounts, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, preventing fraud, and maintaining business records.

Test results, account information, subscription information, and transaction records may be retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward where required for legal, tax, security, or operational reasons.

We may anonymize or aggregate information so it no longer identifies you and use it for analytics, service improvement, or internal research.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

However, no internet-based service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and using the service from a secure environment.

13. Your privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion of your information, restriction of processing, objection to processing, portability of your information, withdrawal of consent, or complaint to a supervisory authority.

To make a privacy request, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Some rights are not absolute. We may be unable to fulfill a request where we must retain information for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or contractual reasons.

If you are in the EU/EEA, you may contact your local data protection authority if you believe your privacy rights have not been respected.

14. Marketing communications

If you receive marketing emails from us, you can unsubscribe using the link in the email or by contacting us.

Even if you unsubscribe from marketing messages, we may still send non-marketing messages related to your account, purchases, subscription, security, legal updates, or service access.

15. Children

Perself is not intended for children under 13 years old, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it where required.

16. Do Not Track and global privacy signals

Some browsers offer Do Not Track signals. Because there is no consistent industry standard for these signals, Perself may not respond to all Do Not Track requests.

Where required by applicable law and technically feasible, we will respect recognized global privacy preference signals such as Global Privacy Control.

17. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or service features.

The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date where appropriate. Continued use of Perself after an update means the current Privacy Policy applies.
